I offer workshops, book readings and talks at schools, colleges, libraries, book shops, events and festivals. I love to meet picture book readers and young illustration and writing enthusiasts. I always try to make my sessions as fun, inspiring and exciting as possible.
Schools
I normally do sessions in one class at a time (or two small classes together). Each one will last for 45 minutes to an hour and most suitable for KS1. I will generally do a book reading, then a short talk about my work using a projector to show images of where I work and different stages in my working process. Then there will be question time, a quick live drawing on a flipboard showing how to draw expressions, and finally a 25 minute art workshop based around a theme in one of my books.
I can also do school assemblies using a projector. I will read my book, and then I will talk about how I become an illustrator, showing images of where I work and different stages in my working process. This will last for about 25- 30 minutes.
The main aim for my sessions is to make them really inspiring, fun and informative. If you have an idea that you think might work for your school then I am very flexible.
I can do a maximum of four classes per day and my prices for half days and full days are competitive and in accordance with the Society of Authors. I also charge travel costs to schools outside of London.
If you would like a book sale and signing, then my publicist can help with ordering books.
Adult talks
I can come to talk about my work, my process, techniques, the relationship between image and word in picture books, publishing and industry advice, and anything else that you would like to know.
Bookshops, libraries and festivals
I always love to get involved in things going on. I can do readings, workshops, displays, and anything else to promote a love of books.

TESTIMONIALS:
"So many children were inspired by Jenni’s workshop – a great number of children told us that they now want to be illustrators when they grow up!
We were very pleased not only with the content and outcome of the session but also the way in which Jenni engaged with the pupils and shared her talent. Pupils listened intently and were thoughtful in producing their illustrations. We look forward to working with Jenni again for future events and would certainly recommend her!"

"The children just loved every minute... she really engaged with the children and captured their imaginations really quickly."

Thank you so much for coming in to work with the children. They absolutely loved it, as did us staff! It was pitched at just the right level and kept their interest and attention all the way through. I’m so glad you were able to see our class door, based on your book! I’ve attached some photos of the day which don’t include the children but still capture some of the magic"
